Understanding SEO
The term SEO is used a lot of times, especially when discussing websites and online marketing. But really, what is SEO and what does it mean?
SEO is the acronym for the term “Search Engine Optimization”. This is the process wherein the visibility of website in search engines is improved by way of “natural” or unpaid search results. By applying SEO marketing tools, websites appear earlier or higher ranked on the search results page and because of this, the chances of the website being “visited” by searchers increases. SEO targets different kinds of searches: from images to videos;, academics and news articles; and even industry-specific vertical searches.
SEO is used as an internet marketing strategy and usually considers things such as: how search engines work; what people normally search for; what search terms are typed into search engine; and which search engines are preferred by the target market.
In order to apply SEO tools on a website, some changes to the HTML source code of a site and site content is required. Certain key words or tags must be included and these are incorporated during the development and design of websites. Optimized websites are called “search engine friendly” sites.
Web host providers usually offer SEO marketing tools with their packages. Information on SEO offerings and how effective these are can be viewed through website hosting customer reviews.
These review sites, an example is InMotion Hosting Review, are independently run and these present the capabilities of a host provider in an easy to understand format. The host’s services are rated and other users leave feedback and comments on their personal experience with the provider and all these are available for everyone else to see.
